Squarespace vs Webflow in our news:
2021. Website builder Webflow raises $140M
Webflow, a software company that helps businesses build no-code websites, announced that it has raised a $140 million Series B. Webflow’s product fits into a category of companies arguing that building software for the internet should get easier over time, not harder. The company has big product plans, including building out its service to support richer and more powerful website creation. In the CEO’s view, websites are merely part of the software world, and he expects no-code tooling to take on more and more complex software tasks over time. That could expand the broader no-code market, in our view, perhaps creating more space for startups to build services that allow for non-developers to depend less on engineering teams over time.
2020. Squarespace adds support for memberships and paywalled content
Squarespace is adding a new monetization option for websites built on the platform: Member Areas, where businesses can charge for access to exclusive content. That could, of course, mean an online publication that wants to paywall some of its articles, but it could also mean a chef who wants to charge for access to cooking videos and recipes, or a fitness instructor hoping to make money from online classes. Squarespace also supports different membership tiers, as well as publishing member-only podcasts and newsletters. Site creators get access to CRM data on each of their members, with plans for more segmentation tools in the future.
2018. Squarespace introduced Conversion Metrics
New Conversion Metrics for Squarespace allow you to gauge the performance of buttons and forms to gain insight into how and where visitors engage with your website. It allows to understand how visitors contact you, book your services, join your mailing list, RSVP to an event — and more. The metrics include Pinpoint engagement, Spot patterns and Filter by device. Surfacing conversion-optimization opportunities empowers you to make informed changes to the forms and buttons on your website and test alternative versions with confidence. So you can perfect your placement, choose words wisely and test different styling options.
2017. Squarespace released new analytics app
The new Squarespace Analytics app for iOS and Android offers access to key insights and website analytics from anywhere, at any time, making it even easier to incorporate analytics into daily workflows. The app presents rich and detailed business metrics in a clean, easy-to-use dashboard, reimagined for smaller screens. Newly added metrics provide the full range of our desktop analytics in the convenience of a mobile app. You can view more historical data with an updated date picker, which now includes new time frames and the ability to set custom date ranges.
2017. Webflow releases Interactions 2.0
Webflow, the web design amalgam of WordPress and Photoshop, released Interactions 2.0. IX2.0 expands on Webflow's web design platform, which allows designers to build professional websites without writing a single line of code. With IX2.0 a designer in Webflow could now visually develop a website interaction in minutes, compared to the hours or days it would generally take a seasoned developer. For web professionals crafting innovative web experiences, Webflow IX2.0 is a brand new website animation tool that allows them to build complex timeline based animations, mouse based effects, and scrolling (parallax) effects without writing a single line of code. Unlike Adobe products, Webflow’s new IX2.0 feature offers designers powerful new ways of designing web experiences that was only possible with code before.

In addition to increasing sales, selling gift cards can offer many other benefits for your business. They encourage customers to spend more. Digital gift cards can be purchased and redeemed just like any other product, making them a seamless addition to your store. This feature is available to all users on the Commerce Advanced plan in all countries and currencies supported by Squarespace Commerce.
2017. Squarespace adds checkout on your domain for Online Stores

2016. Squarespace introduced new analytics for e-commerce
Website creation platform Squarespace introduced new analytics features for its e-commerce businesses. Squarespace’s Commerce product was originally designed for businesses who saw e-commerce as a “secondary goal” of their website — say, a restaurant selling gift cards or a musician selling merchandise. Turns out, however, that selling online was central to many Squarespace customers, so the company revamped Commerce last year with those businesses in mind. Changes included new Commerce templates, a Commerce-specific mobile app and the promise of new analytics specifically for Commerce users — analytics that the company has now officially launched. The new Squarespace Analytics dashboard includes data on things like revenue, units sold, conversion rate, average order volume and revenue per visit.
