Here are the latest news about Wix:

23.02.17 Website builder Wix acquired art community DeviantArt

Website builder Wix has acquired DeviantArt, an online community for artists, designers and art/design enthusiasts for $36 million. Wix said that it will continue to operate DeviantArt as a standalone site, but it will also use it to boost its own business in a couple of ways. First, DeviantArt users will get access to Wix’s web design tools to build out more dynamic online presences. These tools do not only cover design, but commerce and other features for running businesses online. Second, Wix will open up DeviantArt’s repository of art and creative community to the Wix platform, giving Wix’s users access to that work to use in their own site building.

2017 Wix acquied mobile CRM service Flok

Website building platform Wix has acquired Flok, which makes CRM solutions such as loyalty cards and chat services and rewards programs, which can be used on mobile apps and also maintained online or via a mobile app. While Wix is known best as a competitor to the likes of WordPress to build websites, this acquisition is being made to extend the tools that Wix offers to run businesses, which essentially expands its revenue stream with customers — in this case e-commerce companies in particular. E-commerce is a smaller but growing part of Wix’s business. Wix says it manages more than 305,000 e-commerce subscriptions globally, which makes up 15% of all its total subscriptions (versus a much larger pool of users who do not take subscriptions with Wix).

2016 Wix unveiled AI-powered site building tool

Wix is hoping to make it even easier for anyone to create beautiful, responsive websites with its new Advanced Design Intelligence (ADI) service. ADI works by asking users a few simple questions, which it uses to return a website Wix thinks will feel more custom. Gathering data from its decade in existence, Wix thinks it has figured out AI for Website design. Once ADI is done, a ready-to-use Website is offered to users. If they’re not impressed, they can revisit ADI and change the style or features they listed. Should you want to dig into the design and customize it yourself, that’s also possible; it’s Wix, after all.

2015 Website builder Wix acquired social marketing tool Moment.Me

Website building platform provider Wix has acquired Moment.me, the marketing tool for building mobile websites for events and social lead generation, for a price of $10 million. Wix and Moment.me have actually been working together for a while, specifically on an integration to let businesses create event microsites. In other words, if products such as these continue, they are likely to be rebranded or repackaed as part of Wix’s bigger platform. For Wix, this will help the company move away from basic website building and help it upsell more value-added services on top of this, not unlike what GoDaddy has done by moving into small business services alongside basic domain registration and hosting.
