Latest news about SEO services

2021. Conductor raises $150M to build out its search-based, organic marketing technology

Conductor, an organic marketing platform aimed at SEO, content and web marketing teams, leveraging insights from search traffic to help build more accurate marketing strategies, has raised $150 million. At its heart, Conductor’s technology would typically be one of many tools — maybe dozens these days — that a marketer would use to both gather and analyse data to formulate and run campaigns. And to that end, the company already integrates with dozens of other sources and platforms to make that management and use easier for customers. (The list includes insights tools like Dragon Metrics, Google Trends, TalkWalker, DeepCrawl and SEMrush; project management platforms like Jira, Asana, Trello and WorkFront; and measurement tech from Adobe, Google, Webtrends and more.) But what is also interesting is that its approach in focusing around search is possibly more relevant today than ever before.

2021. Botify raises $55 million to optimize search engine indexing

Botify, that created a search engine optimization (SEO) platform so that your content is better indexed and appears more often in search results, has raised a $55 million Series C. While there are a ton of good and bad practices in the SEO industry, Botify defines itself as “white-hat company”. They respect the terms of services of search engines, they don’t scrape search results for insights, they don’t create shady backlinks on other websites. The startup first released an analytics tool that gives you insights about your website. Basically, it lets you see how a crawler analyzes your site. The company then released Botify Intelligence, which hands you a prioritized to-do list of things you can do to improve your SEO strategy. And now, the company is also working on automation with Botify Activation. When Google’s search engine bot queries your site, Botify can take over and answer requests directly.

2016. Google launched simple website testing tool for small businesses

Google launched a new tool aimed at helping business owners determine how well their website performs on the mobile web, including on both smartphones and tablets. You just type in your website address, and then the tool will score your site. It will also offer a more detailed report that makes suggestions on things that you need to fix, which you could pass on to whomever runs your website, if not yourself. Given that mobile searches surpassed desktop search for the first time last fall, it’s critical for website owners, that the sites showing up in search results are accessible, functional and performant.

2015. Web analytics service SimilarWeb raised $25M

SimilarWeb, the service that provides websites and mobile app publishers with intel about their own traffic and that of competitors, has raised $25 million in funding to continue building its business both through organic hires and acquisitions. The main rival for SimilarWeb is Alexa that made its name with website rankings. SimilarWeb is trying to do the same and go one step further with an additional layer of transparency. Besides SimilarWeb provides to users free details about search marketing, display, traffic and so on. The company makes money by charging for its Pro tier, which starts at $200/month for its most basic package and is based around modular pricing where you pay just for what data you need.

2015. Google rebrands Webmaster Tools to Google Search Console

Google has renamed Google Webmaster Tools to Google Search Console. Why? Google says because the tool is not just for webmasters, it is for hobbyists, small business owners, SEO experts, marketers, programmers, designers, app developers and yes, Webmasters – but webmasters are just one segment of its user base. To make it more inclusive and not to scare away non-webmasters, Google renamed the tool. Nothing else has changed with this name change, although Google is frequently adding new features to the tool.

2015. Web presence management service Conductor raises $27 Million

Conductor, the web presence management platform that looks to put an end to ads, has today raised $27 million in Series D funding. The company started out as an SEO-based platform, but has watched the transition of the marketing and advertising space and found that it’s not about how much you pay to put content online, but about the quality of the content and the strategy used to share it. Instead of focusing on the price of ad banners and ad words, Conductor looks at the demographics that are drawn or targeted by a certain brand. For example, Huggies is probably targeting adults with youngish children, mostly moms. Conductor then looks at what that demographic clicks on (in almost any demographic, people click far more on unpaid content than they do on advertisements) and helps the brand formulate content and strategy.

2015. BrightEdge launched new tools for content marketers

SEO service BrightEdge has released new tools that should help you keep an eye on the competition while you’re at it. To that end, BrightEdge created its Content Optimizer, which draws on the BrightEdge Data Cube (hey, it sounds futuristic at least) to become a writing coach of sorts. As the marketer goes along, the Content Optimizer provides recommendations on things such as blog post structure or when a post is too long. With Content Optimizer 3.0, BrightEdge is adding data from a new source — competitors. That means marketers can see what kinds of content their competitors are publishing and how effective that content is, and they can get recommendations on how they can create content that can compete.
