2022. Boulevard books $70M to help beauty and wellness salons with their bookings



Boulevard — one of the wave of software companies that’s building a route to digitizing booking appointments, messaging clients, and taking payments for hair salons, nail salons, barbershops, face and skin care service providers, and others in the world of beauty and wellness services — is announcing that it has raised $70 million in funding, a signal of changing demand and the traction this startup in particular is getting in the space. To be clear, Boulevard faces a lot of competition — other big names include Zenoti, which at the end of 2020 was valued at over $1 billion; Booksy, which PitchBook estimates was valued at just under $540 million in November 2021 after it, too, raised $70 million earlier that year; and Fresha, which was valued at over $640 million at the end of 2021, among many others.


2020. Zoho Bookings - new online scheduler for the service industry



Zoho unveiled online booking software for small businesses - Zoho Bookings. It allows to handle three different types of bookings: appointments, class registrations, asset rentals. Zoho Bookings integrates with seven of the world’s popular payment gateways, including Stripe, PayPal, RazorPay, and Authorize.Net. Bookings connects with your Google calendars, as well as your Zoho and Zoho CRM calendars, so you never get double booked. If you have an event on your Google Calendar for a parent-teacher meeting on Friday from 10 to 12, that time will be automatically blocked off in Bookings.


2019. Facebook unveiled automated ad builder and an appointment manager for small businesses



Facebook has launched two new products aimed at small businesses. The first is Automated AdsThe idea is that business owners can answer a few questions about what kind of company they are and about their goals for the campaign. Then based on their answers — as well as the information on their Facebook Page - Facebook will create recommendations for the audience they should target, the budget they should set and even how the different versions of the ad should look and what they should say. And while Facebook said it’s provided lightweight support for booking appointments in Messenger in the past, it’s now expanding that functionality, so businesses can accept appointments and manage all appointments through Facebook and Instagram. These appointments also can be synced with the business owner’s personal calendar, or with third-party appointment tools like MyTime and HomeAdvisor.


2017. Jimdo adds Booking app



If your Jimdo Creator website offers services, events or courses that require booking an appointment, our new Jimdo Booking app for Android is perfect for you. You can now create a booking calendar via your smartphone that is displayed to visitors on your website. Once you set up your calendar, visitors can book your services directly on your Jimdo website. As soon as someone books one of your offers, you will receive a push notification directly in the app so you’re always up to date with how many people have made a booking.


2017. Wix gets online booking feature


Wix Bookings makes it easy for customers to schedule appointments and classes right on your website. Spend less time playing phone tag and more time growing your business. You can easily set your working hours, pricing, add and remove participants, choose calendar layout, accept payments on your site using a variety of processors like Square, Stripe, Wirecard and more. Customers can book your solo or group services in website booking widget on desktop or right from their mobile devices on mobile calendar.


2016. Office 365 hets online booking app


Microsoft extanded its Office 365 suite with a new service called Bookings, which will allow customers to schedule appointments with a business using online software. In addition to connecting businesses and customers without the need for a phone call, Bookings will also manage other aspects to appointment management, including sending out confirmations and reminders, handling re-scheduling and cancellations, updating the business staff’s calendar, and more. Businesses are provided with a unique web page that works on both desktop and mobile where customers can select their dates and times based on current availability. Here, they’ll enter in their contact information and book the appointment. The system then automates the rest of the process surrounding appointment management.
