Zangi wants to defeat Skype

August 30, 2013 | Author: Adam Levine

Today Skype turns 10 years. Already 10 years Skype is the most popular service for VoIP / video calls. But one day the One will come and defeat Zangi. Maybe it will be Google Hangouts, or Viber, or Tango, or ooVoo, or Nimbuzz. And maybe - the new startup - Zangi, that will launch globally in October. What is the brilliant idea of Zangi? They want to create really unified communications tool that can connect two people, no matter where they are, what device they use and what connection they have. Unlike Skype, that works only via Internet, Zangi allows to connect via GSM (using call-back). In addition, it allows to send SMS  and support calls via browser (web interface). Unlike Viber, Zangi allows you to make video calls.

With Zangi you can stay connected when traveling abroad where there is no internet connection. You just buy a SIM card from a local operator and register it in the Roaming section. When Zangi-user calls you, the VoIP call will be forwarded to this local number even if this user doesn't know it.

How Zangi makes money? In the same way as competitors - charging you for calls to landline or mobile phones - to people that haven't registered in Zangi yet. By the way, the registration process - is very simple. You just enter your number, receive sms and enter the code.

What's not ready yet? There is no Android-app. Only iOS. Android-client is scheduled for this September. No voice/video conferencing and group chat. No way to call from outside to Zangi user.

But, in general, as Zangi told us, all the advantages and disadvantages, described above - are temporary. Communication sphere is a non-stop arms race and competitors are constantly adding new features and improve quality. And Zangi is ready to take part in this race .
