Squarespace vs Weebly in our news:

2020. Squarespace adds support for memberships and paywalled content

Squarespace is adding a new monetization option for websites built on the platform: Member Areas, where businesses can charge for access to exclusive content. That could, of course, mean an online publication that wants to paywall some of its articles, but it could also mean a chef who wants to charge for access to cooking videos and recipes, or a fitness instructor hoping to make money from online classes. Squarespace also supports different membership tiers, as well as publishing member-only podcasts and newsletters. Site creators get access to CRM data on each of their members, with plans for more segmentation tools in the future.

2018. Weebly brings more e-commerce features to mobile

Website builder Weebly announced a number of new e-commerce features for the Weebly mobile app. Those features include the ability to ship and print labels, to respond to customer questions (via Facebook Messenger, which can be embedded on Weebly sites), to approve customer reviews, to create branded coupon codes and to edit every aspect of your store, including product listing and pricing — all from the app. Much of this functionality already existed on desktop, so the announcement is about moving these capabilities onto smartphones. In a blog post, the company outlined a vision for the mobile phone to become “the new back office.”

2018. Weebly launched Photo Studio service

Weebly launched new service - Photo studio - for entrepreneurs who want beautiful, professional product photos for their online store. It works as follows: you ship your product (or products) to Weebly, then Weebly Photo Studio shoots professional product photos for you, you get a link to download product photos, they ship your products back to you. For now Weebly offers 3 professional product photos for $10 per product.

2018. Squarespace introduced Conversion Metrics

New Conversion Metrics for Squarespace allow you to gauge the performance of buttons and forms to gain insight into how and where visitors engage with your website. It allows to understand how visitors contact you, book your services, join your mailing list, RSVP to an event — and more. The metrics include Pinpoint engagement, Spot patterns and Filter by device. Surfacing conversion-optimization opportunities empowers you to make informed changes to the forms and buttons on your website and test alternative versions with confidence.
