The Canadian point-of-sale software provider has acquired the e-commerce platform Ecwid for $500 million and NuOrder, a B2B ordering platform catering to wholesalers, brands, and retailers, for $425 million. Ecwid has established itself over the years as a prominent partner of Facebook, assisting small businesses in creating commerce experiences on the social media platform. It has expanded its services to support merchants using platforms such as Square, Wix, Instagram, and Google, sometimes in competition with, but also potentially integrating with, other e-commerce backends like Shopify.


2020. Lightspeed acquires restaurant software company Upserve for $430M



Lightspeed has recently made an announcement regarding its acquisition of Upserve, a move that expands Lightspeed's footprint in the restaurant industry. With its existing cloud-based point-of-sale software catering to various businesses, this acquisition further strengthens Lightspeed's position in the market. 2019. Restaurant management platform Toast raised $250M



Toast, a leading restaurant management platform, has secured $250 million in funding, valuing the company at $2.7 billion. Additionally, Toast aims to expand its presence beyond the United States into new territories.
