2019 - LinkedIn rolls out video livestreaming service for business



LinkedIn is rolling out a streaming service called LinkedIn Live to select U.S. users. The social networking website built for business professionals tells us that they’re putting a focus on interactive and timely live video streams on LinkedIn Live. The company provided examples such AMA (Ask Me Anything) events or mentors giving their students advice. LinkedIn is clearly looking to shape the content streamed on the service, at least at first, by using it to support users looking to broadcast conferences, company announcements, earnings calls, and other similar events.

2018 - LinkedIn acquires employee engagement platform Glint



LinkedIn has acquired Glint, a startup that provides employment engagement services for businesses and other organizations. One big focus for LinkedIn over the years has been how to expand the amount of engagement — and therefore revenue — it derives from paying customers, and in particular businesses that are on its platform. Today some of LinkedIn’s revenue generating products include premium memberships, recruitment (Talent Soutions) and education, by way of Lynda.com. Glint is another step ahead in that wider strategy to build out more services for those users, alongside existing services like education, CRM tools and, most recently, business intelligence.

2018 - LinkedIn launches Talent Insights

LinkedIn launched a new feature called Talent Insights. It consists of two parts to it, one focused on people at a company, called “Talent Pool,” and another focused on data about a company, “Company Report.” The first of these will let businesses run searches across the LinkedIn database to discover talent with characteristics similar to those what a business might already be hiring, and figure out where they are at the moment (in terms of location and company affiliation), and where they are moving, what skills they might have in common, and how to better spot those who might be on the way up based on all of this. The second set of data tools (Company Report) provides a similar analytics profile but about your organisation and those that you would like to compare against it in areas like relative education levels and schools of the respective workforces; which skills employees have or don’t have; and so on.

2018 - LinkedIn adds voice messaging



Professional networking platform LinkedIn is adding voice messages. The voice recording feature is available via the iOS or Android app. Users can receive messages on both mobile and on the LinkedIn website. The voice messages can be up to one minute long. While LinkedIn has proven itself a powerful tool for professional networking, with particular popularity among recruiters and HR professionals, it can also feel a bit like a second overwhelming email inbox. Voice messages could prove to be a nice break from the text, but could also add a new weight to all the inbound messages users receive on the platform. LinkedIn thinks that sending voice messages on the go is easier than typing them out. Besides the asynchronous nature of LinkedIn, as compared to phone calls and voicemails, is easier for recipients of voice messages. And finally, the company believes that users can better express themselves via voice.

2017 - LinkedIn makes its messenger smarter to keep up with Facebook



LinkedIn is unveiling a new smart reply feature in its messaging app, which gives users prompts with different phrases to use while they are chatting to keep the conversation flowing. The feature is launching in English first in LinkedIn’s mobile app and on desktop. LinkedIn says that it plans to roll it out to more languages sometime in the future. And users can opt out of the smart reply feature in their settings. LinkedIn has been trying suggested replies since January, but the key difference in today’s news is that the company is now using more AI tools like machine learning and more sophisticated natural language processing to be able to understand the gist of a conversation and how to help keep it going. 2017 - LinkedIn launched own advertising network



LinkedIn launched a new service LinkedIn Audience Network: a way for advertisers to buy inventory on a network of mobile sites and apps beyond LinkedIn itself, but still using LinkedIn’s demographic data, to broadcast their Sponsored Content — LinkedIn’s term for updates posted by companies that can be reports or other links, which the companies pay to promote. Initially, the LinkedIn Audience Network will cover tens of thousands of sites and apps globally, as well as ad exchanges like MoPub, Sharethrough, Google Ad Exchange and Rubicon and Microsoft-owned services like MSN.com and Outlook.com. The audience network is rolling out globally to all English-speaking countries first. For sure, LinkedIn has much more ad target parameters than ZoomInfo

2017 - New LinkedIn tool tells businesses about who’s visiting their websites to fight ZoomInfo



LinkedIn, the professional social network, is giving businesses a new way to see what kinds of audiences they’re attracting with their marketing efforts. The Website Demographics tool allows businesses to break down their website visitors across eight categories including job title, industry, company and location. After all, that’s the kind of data that we’re all providing as LinkedIn users. To connect that data to website visits, the company is using the same conversation tracking technology that powers its Matched Audiences ad targeting.

2017 - Microsoft integrated LinkedIn with Dynamics 365. Salesforce keeps calm



Microsoft announced some significant integrations between the professional social network LinkedIn (that it bought last year) and Microsoft Dynamics 365, the company’s CRM and ERP suite. First of all, the company is linking Dynamics 365 and the LinkedIn Sales Navigator tool to give sales people access to its database of 500 million users. Microsoft is also announcing a tool for HR pros called Dynamics 365 for Talent, which gives Dynamics 365 ERP users, the ability to search for new talent directly from LinkedIn’s Recruiter and Learning solutions, and manage employees from recruitment throughout their time with company.

2017 - LinkedIn gets closer to CRM



LinkedIn, the social network for the working world that is now owned by Microsoft, is adding a new “enterprise” tier to its Sales Navigator product — a subscription-only service that lets salespeople tap LinkedIn for customer leads for so-called “social selling” — opening up the product for much larger groups of users. On top of this, it’s also integrating PointDrive (a tool it acquired last year to help salespeople share documents and presentations with clients); and adding CRM sync functionality to write back to whichever CRM database your company uses whatever selling you have done in LinkedIn.

2017 - LinkedIn launched new desktop version with chatbots



LinkedIn is unveiling redesign of its desktop site, complete with a simpler, app-like look; a new messaging experience that appears as a pop-up on the homepage; and updated search features. LinkedIn said the new desktop version will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks. The new app is moving away from the busy pages of the past and attempting to reduce clutter by reducing the navigation to seven areas: Home (Your Feed), Messaging, Jobs, Notifications, Me (your old profile page), My Network, and Search. Besides LinkedIn has introduced its own form of chatbots. They are little helpers that will suggest things to talk about to “break the ice” with people. They will also suggest people you can chat with at companies if you aren’t even at the ice-breaking point.
