Fiverr
Fiverr is a global online marketplace offering tasks and services, referred to as 'gigs' beginning at a cost of $5 per job performed, from which it gets its name. The site is primarily used by freelancers who use Fiverr to offer a variety of different services, and by customers to buy those services

Mechanical Turk
Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a crowdsourcing Internet marketplace that enables individuals or businesses to co-ordinate the use of human intelligence to perform tasks that computers are currently unable to do. It is one of the sites of Amazon Web Services. The Requesters are able to post tasks known as HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks), such as choosing the best among several photographs of a store-front, writing product descriptions, or identifying performers on music CDs.
Fiverr and Mechanical Turk are both online platforms that offer freelance services, but they differ significantly in their approach and target audience. Fiverr focuses on creative and professional services, providing a marketplace where freelancers can showcase their skills and offer a variety of specialized services at fixed prices starting from $5. It is geared towards businesses and individuals seeking specific services such as graphic design, writing, video editing, and more. On the other hand, Mechanical Turk, operated by Amazon, is a crowdsourcing platform that offers small, repetitive tasks known as Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs). It is designed for workers who complete these microtasks for compensation. While Fiverr offers a broader range of specialized freelance services, Mechanical Turk focuses on microtasks that require human intelligence and are often used for research, data entry, and categorization purposes.

Following LinkedIn's recent launch of Service Marketplace, a direct competitor to freelance platforms like Fiverr and Upwork, Fiverr has announced an acquisition that demonstrates its commitment to enhancing user experience by incorporating additional features. Fiverr will acquire Stoke Talent, a platform enabling companies to manage their freelance teams, for $95 million. Stoke's toolset offers functionalities such as onboarding new freelancers, facilitating payments through the platform, and tracking overall freelance budgets. The objective is to develop tools that foster stronger integration between employers and Fiverr's freelance marketplace. Stoke will continue to operate independently, but the products will be integrated to allow freelancers hired via Fiverr to onboard and receive payments through Stoke. Additionally, this acquisition aims to deepen Fiverr's involvement in how companies collaborate with freelancers, regardless of whether they are sourced through Fiverr or not.
