Face to face in the news:
2015 - Bigcommerce acquires inventory management service Zing to catch up with Squarespace
E-commerce platform Bigcommerce made its first acquisition, point-of-sale and inventory management software startup Zing. Bigcommerce said the purchase of Zing will allow it to give retailers better tools and APIs to manage inventory and sales across multiple channels, such as an online store and brick-and-mortar location. ore than 30 percent of Bigcommerce’s 85,000 clients currently operate at least one physical storefront in addition to their web stores, and the integration with Zing will allow them to handle O2O services like in-store pickup and shipping from store inventory more easily. Bigcommerce faces formidable competition, however, from other e-commerce platforms like Shopify and Magento, as well as marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon that target smaller vendors.
2014 - Squarespace 7 integrates with Getty Images and Google Apps for Work. Beware BigCommerce
Squarespace, the all-in-one publishing/commerce platform, that allows individuals and businesses to easily setup their own websites and online shops, announced the new version - Squarespace 7. It adds a number of new features and integrations, including a new image picker powered by Getty Images. This lets customers bring high-quality photographs to their sites; more than 50 million images are available, and Squarespace has negotiated a licensing rate of just $10 an image. Squarespace 7 also integrates with Google Apps for Work, which makes it easy for businesses to setup email accounts, schedule events and access file storage via Google Drive.
