2015. Application performance management provider AppDynamics raises $158M
San Francisco-based company AppDynamics has successfully concluded a funding round, raising a total of $158 million. The round was led by General Atlantic and Altimeter Capital. AppDynamics specializes in developing software that monitors the performance of business applications. It competes with established firms like IBM, as well as newer players such as New Relic, which went public in December of the previous year and has demonstrated relatively consistent stock performance since then. (New Relic, which secured $214 million in venture funding, currently boasts a market capitalization of $1.8 billion.) AppDynamics had previously secured approximately $206 million in debt and equity financing, which includes a $120 million round—comprised of $70 million in equity and $50 million in debt—that concluded in July of the preceding year.
2015. Hybrid cloud monitoring provider ScienceLogic got $43M
IT monitoring specialist ScienceLogic has recently secured $43 million in a Series D funding round. ScienceLogic aims to capitalize on the increasing adoption of a hybrid-cloud strategy by businesses, wherein they combine on-premise infrastructure with external cloud providers. While companies may have monitoring tools in place for their existing infrastructure, capable of scanning log files and identifying issues within their data centers, there is a lack of comprehensive solutions that provide a holistic view of how their infrastructure integrates with cloud-based services. ScienceLogic offers a console that can connect with the monitoring tools provided by public-cloud providers, such as Amazon's CloudWatch, through APIs. By gathering data from CloudWatch and correlating it with information obtained by its own CloudMapper tool from on-premise infrastructure, ScienceLogic can intelligently map out the relationships between these two environments, providing organizations with a comprehensive understanding of their entire infrastructure landscape.
