2023. Twitter completes sale of MoPub to AppLovin

AppLovin, the marketing software provider, has acquired Twitter's mobile ad platform, MoPub, for $1.05 billion in cash. Despite MoPub contributing approximately $188 million in annual revenue to Twitter in 2020, the social media giant has decided to focus on other areas of its business due to accelerated product development and greater potential. Twitter will now prioritize performance-based ads, SMB, and commerce as it redirects its resources. At the time of the acquisition, MoPub's software was already being utilized by 45,000 mobile apps to manage their monetization, reaching an impressive 1.5 billion addressable users globally, as per AppLovin's statement. Presently, AppLovin's Exchange provides direct access to over 150 DSPs (Demand-Side Platforms), representing numerous brands and agencies.

2014. Facebook’s top ad seller Nanigans expands to Twitter’s MoPub

Nanigans, the leading Facebook Ads API tool responsible for managing $500 million in annual ad spend, has joined forces with mobile ad platform MoPub (owned by Twitter) to deliver advertisements across numerous mobile apps and websites. This collaboration highlights the growing appeal of MoPub to advertisers seeking publishers for their campaigns. Nanigans operates on a SaaS model, charging advertisers an annual subscription fee based on their ad spend, instead of inflating ad rates. Moreover, Nanigans leverages machine learning to forecast the lifetime value of customers acquired through its ads and optimizes for long-term revenue generation, prioritizing quality over the lowest-priced ads.
