14.07.16 Microsoft introduced subscription model for Windows 10

Microsoft announced Windows 10 Enterprise E3 - the subscription model that will be available through the Cloud Solution Provider program. Starting this fall, businesses can get enterprise-grade security and management capabilities at $7 a seat per month for the first time through the Cloud Solution Provider channel. CSP partners will be able to provide a subscription to Windows 10 Enterprise Edition as part of a managed service offering, which is ideal for businesses who do not have dedicated IT resources or limited IT staff, and want their licensing and IT needs managed by a trusted and experienced partner.

2015 Microsoft launches Windows 10

Microsoft is starting to roll out the new Windows 10, which will be free to all Win 7/8 users. Windows 10 combines the modern — an app store, Cortana, a new browser, and so forth — with a comfortable helping of the traditional, including, the return of the Start Menu. The inclusion of Cortana adds a new way to interact with your desktop computer into the mix. Edge is the future replacement of Internet Explorer, meaning that after several decades, Microsoft is trying to re-take over the Internet. The app store is better. The Start Menu is a refinement of the largely failed Start Screen. And the Continuum feture changes Windows 10 into a touch-friendly interface.

2015 Microsoft To Provide Free Upgrades To Windows 10

Microsoft announced that Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 users will be eligible for a free upgrade inside the first year of Windows 10. The free upgrade plan should allow Microsoft to lessen the current version fragmentation that Windows endures. Windows 10 is positioned as a service, instead of simply an operating system that a user installs. It means, that when you buy a Windows app, you can use it on desktop, tablet and phone and even more - these apps will sync data and settings. Windows 10 will have only one app store for all platforms, thus Microsoft wants to close app gaps that Windows Phone has. The new OS will contain a new browser Spartan, voice assistant Cortana and new touch-friendly Office apps. Security is also going to be a big feature of the new OS. Windows 10's new security features would have stopped a couple of the high-profile corporate hacking cases.

2014 Microsoft promises managed enterprise App Stores with Windows 10

Microsoft previously announced that Windows 10 will contain a single app store that will work across devices. Today, it announced that a “Web-based” store will be an option for companies that want control what apps their employees, say, can install. Apps that are assigned to a user will be up for installation with a single click. This is a play towards the heart of large, enterprise customers. Offer IT folk new tools, and you might get their attention. If you buy your own computer, this won’t impact you, but it could make Windows 10 more appetizing to large enterprise customers that shunned Windows 8. Microsoft is currently rolling out updates to its first Windows 10 preview, aimed at large clients. A consumer preview is expected to land in January.

2014 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 - the tablet that can replace your laptop

That's how Microsoft advertises the new version of its tablet Surface Pro 3, presented today. The company continues to promote the idea that laptops and tablets should run on the same operating system and the same applications. The third version of the Surface has become even more similar to a laptop (than the previous one) for 3 reasons. First - is the 12-inch screen (compared to 10" of Surface 2) - it's a usual size for a laptop. Second - even more powerful hardware - up to Core i7 with 8 GB of memory. And third - even more convenient cover-keyboard that physically transforms the tablet into a laptop. Moreover Surface 3 has become even thinner and lighter than Macbook Air. Overall, this is a luxury toy for businessmen and executives, and it costs appropriately: $799 - $1949 depending on configuration. However, it's still not clear why Microsoft is producing such expensive tablets, while Google is monopolizing the tablet market with cheap Android-models and replacing Windows 8 laptops with cheap Chromebooks.
