Oracle Cloud Office is a Web and mobile office suite. It includes word
processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and more. Based on Web open
standards and the Open Document Format (ODF), Oracle Cloud Office
enables Web 2.0-style collaboration and mobile document access and
ensures compatibility with Microsoft Office file documents. Oracle Cloud
Office is integrated with Oracle Open Office, which enables rich
offline editing of complex presentation, text, and spreadsheet
documents.
As you know, last year Oracle acquired SUN along with it's office suite StarOffice / OpenOffice. Recall that OpenOffice - is a free, office that was created by the open-source community on the basis of the commercial StarOffice, owned by SUN. Later versions of StarOffice were based upon OpenOffice. However, SUN, and then Oracle, being the main sponsor of the OpenOffice community, always could use it in its interests. And recently, Larry Ellison, having found out that the new $20 billion cloud-office market is emerging, has decided not to give it to Google and Microsoft and create an online office based on OpenOffice. Larry even sacrificed his principles and allowed to call this new product Oracle Cloud Office. So, recenlty the Oracle's cloud office has been unveiled.
