Box.net want to be a Swiss Bank for files on the Web
26.10.09
Box.net CEO, Aaron Levie, says that there are a lot of good SaaS business apps on the Web and most of them include (or should include) file collaboration capabilities. But in the world of bestsourcing it would be great for all if these business apps would focus on their specific functions and Box.net would provide the powerful file collaboration layer for them. In other words, Box.net wants to be the same for Internet, as Sharepoint for Intranet. And they decided to start this mission from the leading SaaS player - Salesforce. The other day, Box.net developed the connector, that allows Salesforce users to add Box.net to their accounts and use all Box.net file management tools right from the online CRM system.
Box.net module appears on Account, Contact, Lead and Opportunity pages. So, for example, why talking to customer, you can quickly find a file and send him by email. Besides, in this module you can view and edit documents with the help of Zoho editors, share file with co-workers or clients (even with those that don't have Box.net account), send documents by fax, send file links, sign docs with digital signature and use all the tools developed by Box.net partners.
Interesting that Salesforce already has to options for file management - Google Docs and Salesforce Content. But Box.net integration is more suitable and provides more functions, thanks to Box.net open platform.
Salesforce connector is available for Business and Enterprise Box.net accounts, that start from $15 a month.
